Beyond the general election!

Whilst the elections dominate the headlines, it is crucial to remember that it will soon be business as usual. Please keep up to date with your consultation submissions (as an individual or as an organisation).

We have listed here those relevant to our campaigns, covering a range of issues from single-sex NHS services through to gathering evidence of organisations misrepresenting the Equality Act 2010.

We also need to press the incoming government to carry forward all these important consultations into reports and action.

Safeguarding children in schools and colleges – Department for Education 

Seeking views from safeguarding and education professionals to update “Keeping children safe in education” (KCSIE) safeguarding resource for schools and professionals. 12 week consultation, with technical updates for September 2024 and updated document for 2025.

NHS Constitution: 10 year review – Department of Health & Social Care

Consultation seeking views on proposed changes to the NHS Constitution. The NHS Constitution applies to all those who use its many services, its staff and providers. During this consultation exercise, we want to hear from people across this broad spectrum, to help us define and enshrine the values of the NHS for years to come.




In particular, it asks whether you agree/disagree on inserting or amending paragraphs about:

  • requests for intimate same-sex care
  • same-sex sleeping arrangements on hospital admission (including gender reassignment being offered a different service e.g. single room in hospital if proportionate means of achieving legitimate aim)
  • the right to expect the NHS to reflect your preference and meet your needs within proportionate aim/legitimate needs
  • Updating principle 1 and access to health services to reflect language of Equality Act 2010 (to “sex”, “religion or belief” and “marriage and civil partnership status”)

Incorrect guidance on singe-sex spaces and gender self-identification – Government Equalities Office

The Minister for Women and Equalities is seeking examples of policy or guidance in which public bodies – or organisations that advise public and private organisations – wrongly suggest that people have a legal right to access single-sex spaces and services according to their self-identified gender.

Please submit any examples of policy or guidance which states that people have a legal right to access single-sex spaces and services according to their self-identified gende

Review of data, statistics and research on sex and gender – UCL lead with Department for Science, Innovation and Technology oversight

Looking at current data collection on sex and gender in the UK, requesting examples of:

  1. Organisations involved in flawed data collection on sex and/or gender identity 
  2. Barriers to research.

You can respond to one or both parts, individual submissions welcome.

Review of RHSE statutory guidance – Department of Education

An online survey for organisations and individuals. The draft guidance states gender identity should not be taught and that boys and girls cannot be legally considered the opposite sex unless 18+ (i.e. gender reassignment). Follows from an expert review in 2023.

Restrictions on the prescription of puberty blockers

The emergency measures restricting the prescription and supply of puberty blockers
Ends on Tuesday 3 September.

A consultation may be required to make the legislation permanent – we will provide updates when we know more.
