Alicia Kearns MP has now replaced her previous Conversion Therapy Ban amendments to the Criminal Justice Bill with a new amendment NC58.
Please see attached for an opinion on this amendment from Sarah Vine KC of Doughty St Chambers.
We are urging Labour not to back this amendment, which would add a conversion practices ban to the Criminal Justice Bill, and we commissioned Sarah Vine KC to provide an opinion on the human rights issues in relation to it.
It was originally tabled as NC30, but on 27th March NC30 was withdrawn and replaced with a near identical amendment, NC37.
All the issues raised by Ms Vine remain the same.
