Who we are

Labour Women’s Declaration launched in 2019, with the aim of “holding Labour to account on women’s sex-based rights”.

We are dedicated to ensuring that Labour upholds and advances the rights, dignity, and safety of women and girls as a sex-based class. We believe that women’s rights are human rights, and that recognising biological sex is fundamental to ensuring equality and justice for women and girls.

A gathering of Labour Women's Declaration activists

Labour Women’s Declaration is coordinated by a national Working Group of women from across the UK who also act as our Board of Directors. We are both supported by and provide support to a strong network of hundreds of Labour activists and supporters.

Together we amplify women’s voices, foster respectful debate, and ensure that Labour remains true to its historic mission of advancing equality for everyone.

Women & girls are subject to discrimination & oppression on the basis of their sex. To address this inequality, we need our laws, policies & institutions to be clear that sex matters.
